Eligibility & requirements
Requires a legislative appointment (by the governor, lieutenant governor, or a Texas state senator/representative); must enroll at a TX public/private nonprofit institution, meet a 3.0 HS GPA (or TSI college-readiness) standard, complete officer training (ROTC or Texas State Guard commissioning), and serve at least 4 years as a commissioned officer after graduation; converts to a loan if requirements aren't met.
